About the song (by Victor Gustavo Acosta):

Haydn was the main influence for Beethoven, while Pachelbel and Buxtehude inspired Bach. We are shaped by the social networks around us; it's futile and childish to pretend otherwise. We embrace our influences because they have made us who we are, thanks to those who came before us. Following this line of thought, it makes perfect sense that Thilo wanted to pay homage to Running Wild. Rolf Kasparek’s band is not only part of his life but also a significant influence on us. Thus, "H.M.J" was born, heavily infused with maritime imagery and a celebration of heavy metal culture.

The titular "Heavy Metal Jesus" likely represents Rolf Kasparek, the leader of Running Wild, who embodies the ideals of the genre—strength, freedom, and rebellion. By calling him "Heavy Metal Jesus," Thilo Herrmann elevates Kasparek, suggesting that he is a guiding force or spiritual leader within the heavy metal community. Overall, the song serves as a tribute to the heavy metal genre, celebrating its ethos through the lens of pirate adventure, reinforcing camaraderie among fans and honoring the legacy of Running Wild and its leaders. Thilo wanted to share what he learned from the band using his own voice and played the song for Rolf, and he loved it! It was exciting for everyone to know that someone as respected in the metal scene approved and loved the track. There were even discussions about having Rolf feature on the song, but unfortunately, his schedule didn’t allow it. After chatting with Rolf, he kindly sent Thilo a big box of Running Wild memorabilia, showcasing the magic of music in bringing people together. The song also benefited from amazing production by Piet Sielck, who truly understands German metal, and we can hear his influence throughout the track, especially with the AYE among many other elements he contributed.
